Art Is Everywhere:
How Public Art Impacts
San Antonio

During my senior year at Trinity, I created a documentary about Public Art and the San Antonio community with the goal of educating people on the intersection of urban studies and art. This project explores how public art impacts and uplifts the San Antonio community. I created a 14-minute documentary in order to showcase public art across the city and to highlight the artwork’s participatory nature and representational impact. My documentary focused on San Antonio’s robust art scene and multicultural community while investigating arguments against and for the government funding of public art.

San Antonio Museum of Art: Advertising Project

The following is a project made for my Principles of Advertising Communication course at Trinity University. The duration of the campaign ran from February 16th to May 13th, 2018. This campaign employed both paid and earned media for the purpose of promoting the “San Antonio 1718: Art From Viceregal Mexico'' special exhibition.

Campaign Strategy:

This campaign positioned the San Antonio Museum of Art as a unique, fun, and educational place for people of all backgrounds to spend time learning about San Antonio and its history. The goal of this campaign was to reach our target audience of San Antonio locals and tourists alike and emphasize the Museum’s position in San Antonio as a place that celebrates education and culture. Each individual piece of the campaign demonstrated to members of the target audience how the Museum can offer opportunities for shared, unique experiences.

Campaign Theme:

The primary theme this campaign focused on was “300 Years in the Making.” The mission of this theme is to encapsulate the city’s rich history in a celebratory manner. The San Antonio Museum of Art wanted to showcase artwork that focused on the earliest history of the city and the State’s establishment. These works of art were brought to San Antonio from around the globe; some of them have not been in the region since their initial creation. Considering its direct relation to the city of San Antonio, there will be interest among locals as well as tourists in the exhibition.

Studio 21 is the arts, entertainment, and pop culture show of TigerTV. Each week, Studio 21 works in tandem with KRTU to bring in a local band to perform. The six videos featured are from the Fall 2017 semester when I was the Executive Producer of Studio 21.

As Executive Producer of Studio 21, I cast seven full-time on-camera talent positions, facilitated orientation sessions and script workshops for new cast and crew members, oversaw and revised all creative content (scripts, graphics, music videos) for the weekly 30-minute live show. I also aided in securing a live musical act to perform in each episode and directed every episode of Studio 21 during the Fall 2017 semester.

During my senior year of college, I was hired to be the Station Manager for TigerTV. In this role, I supervised a leadership team of 8 other managers to produce and execute 4 weekly 30-minute long shows broadcasted live to the San Antonio area. I also aided in executing each program by taking on behind-the-scenes technical roles, and provided critiques for the cast, crew, and producers.
